Prof. Ha-Van Vu is currently Percey F. Smith Professor of Mathematics and Professor of Data science at Yale University.

Since 2018, he also severs as scientific director at VinBigdata institute. Professor Vu obtained his PhD in mathematics from Yale University in 1998. As a junior faculty, he was a recipient of an NSF Career Award and a Sloan fellowship.

In 2006, he led the special year program in Arithmetic Combinatorics at the Institute for Advanced Study (IAS).

In 2008, he was awarded the Polya prize by the Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIMA), and in 2012, the Fulkerson prize by American Mathematical Society (AMS) and Mathematical Optimization Society (MOS).

He is an inaugural fellow of the AMS and a fellow of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics (IMS).
