Ms. Hien-Minh To, M.Sc.

Hien-Minh To is a biotechnology professional with multidisciplinary experiences in life sciences research and public health. She graduated with a first-rank bachelor of distinction in Biotechnology from University of Science and Technology Hanoi (grade 3.7/4) and hold a Master’s degree in Cellular and Molecular Biotechnology with a specialization in Cancer Biology from the University of Trento, Italy (grade 107/110). Her 3-year research and academic experiences in Europe was funded by 3 full-ride scholarships including 2 Erasmus Exchange Scholarships for studying in Italy and Sweden (at bachelor and master degree, respectively).

In 2023, Hien-Minh interned at the Science Division, World Health Organization (WHO) in Geneva, Switzerland, where she contributed to foresight emerging technologies and piloted global guidance framework for responsible use of life sciences and dual use research. She also coordinated significant meetings and workshops, including technical group meeting in Genomics, successful workshop in Uganda and webinars in the African region.

Hien-Minh’s research includes analyzing T-helper cell subsets for cancer immunotherapy at the Laboratory of Molecular Infection Medicine Sweden, Nordic EMBL, Umea University Sweden and studying the anti-inflammatory effects of traditional Vietnamese medicinal plants. Minh has published internationally on heavy metal resistance mechanisms in plants and their antioxidant capacities.

Besides her passion for innovative immunotherapy and public health policy, Hien-Minh has been a strong advocate for gender equality in STEM education with UNESCO Vietnam. Her work demonstrates her commitment to advancing scientific knowledge through research and collaboration.
