Dr Le Mai Lan

Dr. Le Mai Lan serves as Vice Chairwoman of the Vingroup Joint Stock Company, in charge of Education. In 2013, she was tasked with setting up Vinschool, a high quality K-12 education system bearing the dream and expectation of Vingroup to bring about a brand new model of education: A Vietnamese local school following international standards. In 2019, after 6 years in operation, Vinschool is the largest K-12 school system in Vietnam with 32 campuses, located in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Hai Phong City, serving nearly 27,000 students. Notably, in 2016, Vinschool officially became a not-for-profit school system aiming to contribute to the development of society and positively impact the community.

In 2017, Dr. Le began to lead other Vingroup’s major education project, setting up VinUniversity, with the mission to be the first world-class, internationally accredited and ranked university in Vietnam. The formation of VinUniversity has resulted from the strategic collaboration of Vingroup with Cornell University and University of Pennsylvania. In December 2019, VinUniversity received its established decision from the Prime Minister and opened its campus in January 2020. With a total investment of 6.5 trillion VND (279 million USD) from conglomerate Vingroup, VinUni will be the first Vietnamese private not-for-profit university built following an elite university model to develop talents for the future.

Prior to joining Vingroup, Dr. Le worked in the field of Banking and Finance, particularly human resource development. She studied at the Hanoi-Amsterdam High School and received scholarship from DAAD to study in Germany. Dr. Le holds an MBA specialized in Banking from the Technical University of Berlin, Germany and a Ph.D. in Education Management from the Vietnam National Academy of Education Management.
