As the detrimental impacts of climate change intensify globally, the symposium focuses on scientific, technological, and policy-driven solutions that promote a green and sustainable future. The symposium explores the transformative potential of renewable energy technologies in enhancing energy capture and storage efficiency, discusses strategies for building sustainable infrastructure and green transportation, and seeks feasible solutions to address peculiar challenges posed by climate change that countries around the world, including Vietnam, are facing.
Five distinguished speakers who are prominent figures in their disciplines will present on the topic at this symposium. Professor Soumitra Dutta, Member of the VinFuture Prize Council and the Peter Moores Dean of the Said Business School, University of Oxford (UK) will preside over the symposium. Previously, he was a Professor of Management and the Founding Dean of the SC Johnson College of Business at Cornell University (New York, USA).
Renowned specialists who are following Professor Dutta’s lead at the symposium include:
- Mr. Akihisa Kakimoto, Member of the VinFuture Prize Pre-Screening Committee and former Chief Technology Officer at Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation (Japan). He had been part of the Mitsubishi Chemical group since 1984 and had covered various functions. He currently works for venture capital, start-ups and academia as an advisory role.
- Prof. Daniel Kammen, Member of the VinFuture Prize Council and James and Katherine Lau Distinguished Professor of Sustainability at the University of California, Berkeley (USA). In April 2010, he was appointed as the first Environment and Climate Partnership for the Americas (ECPA) Fellow by Secretary of State Hilary Clinton.
- Prof. Thuc-Quyen Nguyen, Co-Chair of the VinFuture Prize Pre-Screening Committee, Director of the Center for Polymers and Organic Solids at the University of California, Santa Barbara (USA), Member of the US National Academy of Engineering.
- Prof. Sir Kostya S. Novoselov, Member of the VinFuture Prize Council and Tan Chin Tuan Centennial Professor at the National University of Singapore. He is best known for his 2010 Nobel Prize in Physics award-winning work on the isolation of graphene, which was conducted at the University of Manchester (UK) in 2004.
