Water is a crucial component in agricultural production and plays a fundamental role in achieving food security. Effective water management must therefore be a central component of food policies.
As the global population rises and the effects of climate change intensify, the vital interdependence between water and food resources is becoming more evident. Addressing this complex challenge requires innovative solutions and global cooperation to secure sustainable food production and preserve essential water resources.
To address these issues, the VinFuture Foundation and the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) are hosting the InnovaTalk webinar titled “Water and Food Security.” The webinar will bring together distinguished experts to discuss the latest research, technological advancements, and policy approaches aimed at addressing these critical challenges. This is the first time that the VinFuture Foundation has collaborated with an international partner in organizing a scientific event, reaffirming its mission to seek out and spread advanced solutions worldwide.
The webinar will be chaired by Professor Ermias Kebreab, Director of the World Food Center at the University of California, Davis (USA), a renowned expert in the field of sustainable agriculture. He also joined as a Member of the VinFuture Prize Pre-screening Committee. Joining him on the panel are two distinguished speakers:
- Dr. Cao Duc Phat, IRRI Chair of the Board of Trustees and Former Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam.
- Dr. Anton Urfels, IRRI Senior Scientist on Water Management.
Discover valuable insights into the complex relationship between water and food security at this thought-provoking event.
