Professor Duc Thu Nguyen is Professor of Computer Science and Dean of the Division of Mathematical and Physical Sciences in the School of Arts and Sciences at Rutgers University (USA). He joined the Rutgers faculty in 1999 and served as associate chair for five years and chair for two, overseeing a crucial expansion of computer science faculty during a time of rapid technological change.
His research focuses on building efficient, sustainable, and dependable computer systems and improving computer science education.
His honors and awards include Rutgers Big Ten Academic Alliance Department Executive Officers Fellow (2018), FAST 2016 Best paper award, IEEE Micro Top Picks 2014, “Best Papers From The Last 20 Years of HPDC”(2012), IGCC Best paper award (2010), IEEE Sustainable Computing Register’s Pick of the Month (2012), NSF CNS (2005-2010), and Faculty of the Year Award for Excellence in Teaching – Computer Science Graduate Student Society of Rutgers University, awarded in 2000 and 2002. He obtained his PhD degree in Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Washington in 1999.
