[LAO DONG NEWS] The 2024 VinFuture Grand Prize is awarded to a non-academic figure who has affirmed a superior, fair and different vision.
To truly make a difference, scientific innovation must translate into tangible benefits for society. VinFuture's award criteria reflect this commitment to recognizing research with real-world applications.
Mr. Jensen Huang, Founder and CEO of NVIDIA—a global leader in technology—was recently honored with the 2024 VinFuture Grand Prize for his groundbreaking contributions to advancing deep learning and pioneering accelerated computing platforms, which have ushered in the era of modern Artificial Intelligence (AI). Following the award ceremony, he shared his thoughts on receiving the prize, his perspectives on AI, and his vision for Vietnam.
Hanoi, December 6, 2024 - The VinFuture Foundation has honored four scientific breakthroughs in 2024. The US$3 million Grand Prize is awarded to "transformational contributions to the advancement of deep learning." Three VinFuture Special Prizes are awarded to "innovative improvement of oral cholera vaccination in developing countries," "advancement in design of polymeric biomaterials and methods for biomedical applications," and "development of CAR T cell therapy for cancer and other diseases."
“Most of the major scientific prizes are traditionally given in developed economies. Therefore, it is significant that a big prize such as the VinFuture Prize is now given in Vietnam, an emerging economy. This demonstrates to the world that emerging economies can be equal partners in the innovation game.”

I’m a multi-disciplined kind of person. I’ve done mathematics. I’ve done physics. I’ve done economics. I’ve done biology. I’ve done computer science. And in the same way, I am not a single-book kind of person nor a single-genre person. I very much believe in bringing diverse perspectives together, including both fiction and nonfiction.
